Keto Life!

A Faith-Filled, Low-Carb Life

Despite the Bible’s clear instruction in 1 Corinthians 6:19 that our bodies are the earthly temple of the Lord, I have not always regarded my physical health as a matter of spiritual necessity.

My testimony around physical health is extensive. I manage chronic illnesses and take my medicine daily. At 29, I was told that I would not survive the week. Then, nine days later I left the hospital. Praise God! In my thirties, my goal was to keep surviving. I managed my conditions and ate reasonably well. By “well” I mean I didn’t eat anything that was notoriously junk, like twinkles and fudge stripe cookies. However, once I turned 40, I started to do more than survive. I decided I wanted to thrive. I meditated on 3 John 1:2 and decided that as my physical body prospered my soul would, too. If I wanted to be used by God, I needed to make sure his residence here on earth was not tired and hangry.

If I wanted to be used by God, I needed to make sure his residence here on earth was not tired and hangry.

Healthy Living became another expression of my faith. With a long family history of diabetes, I started managing my carb intake seven years ago. I went Low Carb/Sugar Free and it changed my life. My weight was good. My metabolic markers (glucose, a1c) were great. The problem was that I had very little energy. I was running in starvation mode.

In January 2019, I ramped up my low carb life into #ketoliving and decided it was time for me to start exercising. My entire life I hated exercise and I’m still not greatly fond of it. However, I know that using diet to manage weight one aspect of healthy living. I joined a gym, started cycling, swimming, and taking Barre classes. Now, I’m the healthiest I’ve been in my adult life.

I love my faith-filled low carb life!
