I can’t believe that with over 160K deaths we are still in debate about whether or not to wear masks. Americans— this includes me— are fed up with not being able to do what we want to do, when we want to do it, and with whom we choose. I’m supposed to be in Martha’s Vineyard right now for my annual August respite. I’m not all that enthusiastic about sitting in my backyard playing ocean sounds from Alexa with an umbrella in my favored seltzer. But, you gotta do what you gotta do.
America is a wonderful salad bowl of unique people with their own views and opinions. It’s what makes America great. It’s also what makes America annoying. Remember, our beloved nation began because we didn’t want to do what the King of England said. We were founded on the principle that we can believe what we want and do what we want. Give us liberty or give us death!
So, there’s that.
If you don’t know a single person who has had COVID 19 and you think it’s all a hoax, good for you. You’re blessed. Last week, I mailed three sympathy cards on a single day to people who had lost parents within the week. It was a sobering moment. I get prayer requests daily for personal friends who have loved ones in ICU or have been hospitalized with COVID19. If you have been able to shop, go to the beach, and take a great vacation with friends without getting sick, rock on! Good for you.
It’s all fun and games until somebody gets a fever.

I’m so pollyanna that Pollyanna calls blissful ignorance “being Kamryn”. I set my eyes on Jesus and only look away when I have to go to the bathroom. I’m so heavenly minded that the angels tell me to “get real.” You get the point— if a situation or circumstance can be ignored, I’m your girl. It’s just impossible for me to ignore COVID 19 with the number of deaths rising everyday. As a Christian, I cannot ignore the pain and loss of others. I mourn with those who mourn. That’s Romans 12:15.
This global pandemic is an opportunity for us to show the world who we are in Christ Jesus. It means loving others as we love ourselves. It means giving up our rights for the benefit of others. I’m trying, Lord! Help me Holy Ghost!
I’m not bitter or anything. *insert side-eye* But, if all of you would have worn masks back in the spring, maybe I’d be on State Beach right now eating seafood instead of this BOGO I’m about to order from Buffalo Wild Wings. Yes, I know. I could just trust God and get on that crowded ferry anyway, right? No, God did not give me the spirit of fear and timidity as directed in 2 Timothy 1:7. He did, however, give me common sense and a will to live like Jesus in Luke 4:12.
As an “at risk” American with underlying issues, I wish all Christians cared enough to wear masks. Then, maybe I might be able to return to my happy place next year. Until then…I’ll just keep blogging about what Jesus would do. WWJD? He’d wear a mask because He loves us.
But…
If you don’t wear a mask, I forgive you because Colossians 3 tells me to “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you.” So, for now, I’ll just pray Colossians 3:14, that you “clothe yourselves with love”…and a mask.
